What was happening so far on the 5th edition of Adventure race Slovenia till day 2, 11.00

First two teams have arrived on the top of first Mountain goal, onto 1808 meters high mt. Korošica. First was at 10.15 team (3) Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team. Right after them, at 10.20, there was the second team (13) LIMA - Salomon adventureteam.si. Soon we are expecting next mounteneers.

After a stormy night the race continues. Results are (unlike the weather) a bit more clear. Some teams have meanwhile reached CP19 ... First team to reach Robanov kot is Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team (CZE). Czechs increased their lead over second placed Lima - Salomon adventureteam.si (SLO) to 14 minutes, French team Les Arcs - Quechua is third. Other teams on CP19 are Exit team, Tilak/OpavaNet, Slovenska vojska, Cisalfa Adventure and Revija Šport/UPC Telemach PuSSyRiders. The skies over Luče cleared and race continued at 7.00 a.m. All teams that came to CP18 before 7.00 were handed time deduction for the time they were waiting. We have so far seven teams at that CP but only three with all CP's. It is therefore hard to rank the other teams as several have missed different check points. Everything will be more clear during the Saturday morning or early afternoon. And there is also a more optimistic weather forecast pleasing the organizers as well as competitors.
After a sunny start the weather fell apart. Heavy rain and thunder storms in Savinjska valley forced the organizers to stop the race for a while. It is also starting to rain here at the race headquarters in Velenje so we are waiting for a decison. New info to come in the next hour or so... 2007-06-23 05:14:57
Czech team Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team has just reached CP18 (Luče) but they will have to wait there for a while as the organizers stopped the race for undefined period of time due to severly bad weather. 2007-06-23 04:49:06
Night has caused a lot of damage to the teams. It is also due to bad weather that teams aren't progressing as quickly as organizers thought. But there is stil a real battle going on for the top ...
We have a first withdrawal. Team vrom Poland (Deuter Adventura) finished the competition due to medical problems by one of their members.

This year's adventure will certainly be the closest one ever. There was another change in the lead. New leading team is Slovenian quartet of team Lima - Salomon adventureteam.si. Local boys and a girl were the quickest in extremely tough night orienteering. Czech team Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team is 10 minutes behind and French team Les Arcs - Quechua who was leading the way until that point lost their way a bit and is stil not on CP 15 Meanwhile all the teams are at least on their way to CP14 as everybody left CP13 (Mozirski gaj).

First night session of fifth edition of Adventure race Slovenia started the brightest for French team Les Arcs - Quechua which was first to reach CP14 (Mozirska koča). Then they started night orienteering which takes just two team members to compete. 7 minutes after the leading team Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team from Czech Republic went to the woods and the best Slovenian team Lima - Salomon adventureteam.si is 22 minutes behind. It's going to be a long night and you can spend it in our company as we are covering the race LIVE all the way.

Leading three teams probably have enough of an advantage over the rest of the pack and therefore we can say we have just three teams left in battle for first place. But the action on other places is also interesting. Both other Czech teams are battling for a place in TOP 5 and there is a Swedish team challenging them. Time differences are actually quite small so we can expect some changes especially during the nigh session ... And we also have a new last placed team. That is Slovenian team Revija Šport/UPC Telemach PuSSyRiders which was overtaken by another Slovenian team Juhu trans team. Both these teams as well as Italian team Delphina Mediterranea Adventure Team failed to reach time limit at CP10 and will therefore continue the race on shorter course. That means they will be placed behind all those teams who complete the race in the general clasiffication.

Nothing new at the top ... French team Les Arcs - Quechua is still in front but both chasing teams have cut their deficit for just a bit. Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team (Czech Republic) in Lima-Salomon adventureteam.si (Slovenia) are now neck to neck with their bikes with 21 minute deficit ...
Next stage features 15 kilometres of mountain biking with as much as 1015 metres of altitude difference. Expected arrival of first team at CP 14 (Mozirska koča) is around 9 p.m.

French team Les Arcs - Quechua is obviously in great shape as they have increased their lead over 11 kilometres of trekking between CP11 and CP12 to over 15 minutes.

First team at CP11 was team No. 11 Les Arcs - Quechua (FRA). French team overtook Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team from Czech Republic in the special orienteering section. But time difference between the leading teams is only two minutes.

Czech team Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team is stil very hot. One of only two teams that participated in all Adventure race Slovenia competitions has reached CP10 (Tolsti vrh /Goričarjeva koča/) at 4.25 p.m. and is proceeding with the section of special orienteering.

10 teams have already started the trekking section (11 km, 613 metres altitude difference) between Letuš (CP 9) and Goričarjeva koča (CP10). Last team (Juhu trans team) finally reached the rope ascending section. We can just say that teams are very tightly packed and we are in to a fascinating race.

Development of events at Adventure race Slovenia 2007 is really fast. E few minutes ago French team Les Arcs - Quechua reached CP6 (Mostnar). They have a two minute advantage over second placed Czech team Salomon/Nutrend CZ AR Team.

All 14 teams are already swimming in Velenjsko jezero lake. First team in the water is team No. 11 Les Arcs - Quechua (France). But as they say swimming is their weakest discipline.

Three minutes ago the last team passed CP 1 (Sv. Martin). The race has started and believe me - it's going to be fun to watch! |
