The World Series is off to a busy start for 2006, with two new races added. XPD, the Australian expedition race joins the series and
will be the first World Series race of the year, starting on February 22nd. And before that's finished the Bergson Winter Challenge will have started in Poland, with teams facing temperatures down to -20C and racing through deep snow. Underground orienteering and Tyrolean traverses carrying bikes are specialities of the organisers. The second new race in the series is the Bimbache Extrem in Spain from March 20th- 24th. The Race Director is Antonio De La Rosa, one of the most experienced and successful international racers and his event always attracts a strong entry. With qualification for the World Championship in Sweden now available this years race in Andalusia will be even more hotly contested. The Wilderness ARC has also announced it's dates for 2006 as May 27th-June 4th. With only 40 places available and many teams wanting experience of racing in the Scottish Highlands prior to the 2007 World Championships the race is already filling up fast. Online entry is available and there is a new page of photos showing just how spectacular the Highland scenery is. (The dates for the 2007 World Championship have already been announced as May 26th-June 3rd.) The X-adventure Raid Series has 3 qualifiers this year and this series too starts in Australia, on the weekend of March 18/19th! . The Series then moves on to Idaho USA in June and the French Alps in July, before culminating with the Raid World Championship in Canada in September.
